Incorporating photos and Information from Michael Greenslade's former Australian Towns, Cities and Highways site

Located in the Brisbane Valley between Fernvale and Mount Tarampa, Lowood is a picturesque rural town nestled on the banks of the Brisbane River and Lockyer Creek.

The town features a number of attractions including the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, several heritage buildings and golf club and began life in the late 1800s when it was the first terminus of the Brisbane Valley branch railway. During World War 2, the area was home to an RAAF airfield, which later became a motor racing circuit.
