Queensland: Esk
Incorporating photos and Information from Michael Greenslade's former Australian Towns, Cities and Highways site

Esk, located in the heart of the Brisbane Valley is a picturesque town, located on the Brisbane Valley Highway 45km north of Ipswich. Established in the 1870's as a result of a copper deposit to the west, the town grew further once the railway from Ipswich was extended. Now the principal centre in the shire, Esk provides for the surrounding dairying and beef industries. With the monstrous Glen Rock providing an awesome easterly backdrop, the town main street is lined with shops ranging from cafes through to art/craft and gift outlets and enhanced by a series of street gardens and parkland along Creek Street. Of interest in the area are Lakes Wivenhoe and Somerset, which are Brisbane's primary water supply, also provide a series of bushwalks and picnic areas.
