Tathra is a small, yet popular coastal town on the Sapphire Coast, 15km from Bega. The layout of the town is interesting as most of it (including about half of the town's shops) lies on the top of the headland, with a steep descent required to reach the beach, camping area and main residential zone. The town has also not had the injection of commercialism that the nearby Merimbula has, therefore retaining a quiet nature.
