Victoria: Bruthen
Incorporating photos and Information from Michael Greenslade's former Australian Towns, Cities and Highways site

Located in East Gippsland, Bruthen is a small service town on the Great Alpine Road, which passes through Victoria's snow fields.

On the banks of the Tambo River, Bruthen's town name originates from an Aboriginal word from the Brabiralong people of the Gunai/Kurnai tribe meaning ‘long wooden point’.

The town offers a rail trail, regular markets and festivals, geocaching and easy access to the larger towns around Gippsland.
