Traffic Signal Photos & Information: 1990s

General Information:

The 1990s saw the introduction of the Quartz Halogen signal head. Using less power and in some cases a better light output, most states within Australia either replaced incandescent signals en masse, or started using them with all new signal installations or upgrades. These replacements created a more standardised signal setup, eliminating the varied brands and styles of the older signals. The majority of signals used during the 1990s were made by Aldridge Traffic Group, Bob Panich and a small amount by AWA. AWA eventually phased out their signals division, after being a key player in traffic signals in Australia since the 1940s.
