William Hovell Drive is an arterial road consisting mostly of 1 lane in each direction linking the Belconnen area to the Glenloch Interchange, which connects Belconnen, Tuggeranong Valley, Woden and North Canberra together.

The road is named after an explorer, who was a settler at Narellan in New South Wales. In 1816, he discovered the Burragorang Valley. Then in 1823 with Hamilton Hume, he explored overland route from Sydney to Port Phillip in Melbourne, from 1824 to 1825. 1
