General Information:

Located on the south island, SH6A is a short spur route linking the Queenstown town centre with State Highway 6.

SH6A is a two-lane road with a painted median along its entire length. The route services mostly commercial and residential areas and features spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu, the Frankton arm of the Kawarau River and Peninsula Hill.

Multiplexes along the route include:

• Southern Scenic Route, for 6 km, between Frankton and Queenstown

History:

• April 2011: A new surface laid on a 1.5 km stretch of SH 6A between Goldfield Heights and Morries Road. 1
• October 2018: Resurfacing works between the BP roundabout in Frankton and the Perkins Road intersection. The work included removing traffic islands and kerbing, road repairs and resurfacing. 2
