Western Australia: Cape Leeuwin
Incorporating photos and Information from Michael Greenslade's former Australian Towns, Cities and Highways site

Located in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in Western Australia, Cape Leeuwin is a locality where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The nearest town, Augusta, is just a few kilometres away

The cape surrounded buy scubby rocky hills features a lighthouse that opened in 1895, and is the tallest on mainland Australia.

The Wardandi Aboriginals were the first peoples in the area. They called it "Doogalup". The English navigator Matthew Flinders named Cape Leeuwin after the first known ship to have visited the area, the Leeuwin ("Lioness"), a Dutch vessel that charted some of the nearby coastline in 1622.
