General Information:

State Route 81 is a connector route, linking the Hume, Mid Western and Mitchell Highways. Used together with the Hume and Barton Highways, it links Canberra with the west of the state. It services several rural communities along its route and is single carriageway undivided roadway.

Multiplexes along the route include:

• National Route 24 (Mid Western Hwy), for 300m at Cowra
• State Route 90 (The Escort Way), for 11 km between Cudal and Boree

History:

• 2003: Morongla Bridge: A new and wider bridge over the Morongla Creek south of Cowra on the Lachlan Valley Way. 2
