General Information:

State Route SR153 is the shortest state route in New South Wales. It's mostly suburban arterial road at the Figtree end, but offers 3 lanes each way from east of the Southern Fwy (NR1) interchange to Springhill Rd (SR153), to cope with freight movements on and off the freeway.

History:

• 1977: Work begins on Masters Road upgrade. 2
• 1979: Bridge over South Coast Railway line (now Jack Kimber Bridge) completed. 3
• 2009: Closure of westbound access to and from Drummond St. 4
• May 2011: Construction work began on intersection upgrade of The Avenue (SR153) and Princes Hwy (SR60) at Figtree. Work included additional turning lanes, changes to turning restrictions and landscaping. 5
